Citrine November

Citrine, along with topaz, is the official birthstone for the month of November, usually given on the thirteenth wedding anniversary. A semi-precious stone, it is not just one of the most popular gems in the yellow to orange categories. Alongside its durability, citrine comes at a low price and high clarity. It is highly valued, and the most common market variety Citrine is heat-treated amethyst.

Color

Being the golden, or yellow variety of quartz, citrine gets its coloration from the presence of iron. The rarest form of citrine is its natural form: pale yellow. The usual colors range from yellow-orange to brown-orange. A fainter color of Citrine denotes its inexpensiveness, due to lack of quality.

Symbolism

All through the course of history, citrines have been sought after for their vibrance and beauty. The brilliance of this birthstone signifies the luminance and warmth of the sun and the exuberance of life. They represent a healthy individual, emotionally and physically, alongside joy and success.

Origin

In earlier times, it was easy to intermix topaz with citrine, therefore allowing people to believe that they shared the same powers of soothing tempers. In ancient Greece, they carved rock crystal ornaments that sparkled like permafrost. Wearing sets of rings with massive purple amethysts, the citrine has also been associated with Roman Jewelry.

uses

Citrine is often associated with positivity and optimism and is used to help in the manifestation of money and finance. Its healing properties include improving digestion and strengthening endurance. Spiritually, citrine goes hand-in-hand with growth, self-improvement, and healing.

Care & cleaning

Citrine is quite a durable stone that can withstand everyday wear and tear. A safe way of cleaning your citrine would be to wash it with warm, soapy water. Steam cleaning is a risky method to use for cleaning, but it is usually alright to clean it in an ultrasonic machine.

Types of Citrine

Synthetic citrine

Man-made material that has a similar chemical composition and optical properties as natural citrine. This is a cheaper option and can be mass-produced, in any size and color

Imitation citrine

Does not have any similar chemical properties. The buyer will have to simply settle for a stone that looks like a citrine
